MrBeast Made $260,000 From X With A Car Video: A Bit Of A Facade

23/01/2024

MrBeast is known for extravagant things and numbers.

As one of the most famous, and most popular YouTube superstars, the man whose real name is James Stephen "Jimmy" Donaldson, is known for his fast-paced and high-production videos, which frequently feature elaborate challenges and large giveaways.

This time, the internet sensation took his talents to X, formerly known as Twitter, to see how his earnings from a video there would compare to how much he typically makes on YouTube.

In a post on X, Donaldson reuploaded his YouTube video of the same title, to see how much he can make.

"I’m curious how much ad revenue a video on X would make," he said.

The video in question shows Donaldson testing a bunch of cars, which together cost a staggering $250 million.

After teasing the cars in a YouTube Short video, the first car the team bought, is a practically a heap. The team purchased a rusty barn find for only a dollar.

Then and along the way, Donaldson gets up close and personal with Tesla’s self-driving Model X, a Lamborghini Huracan, a Rezvani Vengeance SUV, an amphibious Jeep boat, and a flying car. Then, the team arrived at the million-dollar mark, which features a hydrogen concept car, Guntherwerks Porsche 911, Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, McLaren 765LT, custom Shelby GT500, Ferrari 812 Competizione, and four Ford GTs.

In addition to these cars, MrBeast also gets his chance to experience a ride in Koenigsegg Agera RS, and Jay Leno‘s $20 million McLaren F1.

After that, the team went to Petersen Museum, to experience riding in two classic Ferrari cars, which have a combined price of over $80 million.

The final car taking MrBeast and his team experienced, was with a whopping $100 million Ferrari 125 S.

The car is only allowed to be driven by one museum representative in perfect weather conditions, with police escort.

Street cleaners were also hired to fill in every pothole and cleaned the entire street to make sure nothing damaged the car.

Not only that, it’s only allowed to be driven on a certain bridge, with the police also completely shutting down the roads.

According to Ferrari, the car was built in 1947, and was the very first car to ever wear the Ferrari badge.

Equipped with a 1.5 L 'Colombo' V12 engine and mated with a 5-speed manual transmission, the 125 S made its debut on the Piacenza circuit, and later won six races out of the 14 races it ever participated.

Even more expensive than some mere collector cars, Ferrari only built 2 Ferrari 125 S, and because of that, the one and only that remains is kept at the "Vault", which is the lowest level of the Petersen Automotive Museum in California.

From losing his hat twice, to experiencing some of the most fabulous cars, MrBeast is known for his high numbers and the superlatives. And days later, the moment of truth.

In a Monday post on X, Donaldson said he made more than $263,000 after his video, "$1 vs $100,000,000 Car! attracted upward of 150 million views in just one week.

"MY FIRST X VIDEO MADE OVER $250,000!” Donaldson wrote.

"But it’s a bit of a facade. Advertisers saw the attention it was getting and bought ads on my video (I think) and thus my revenue per view is prob higher than what you’d experience."

X launched its creator revenue share program in 2023, offering content creators a share of the ad revenue made from their posts. Creators can become eligible if their posts reach a certain number of users.

Since acquiring Twitter in 2022, and renaming it to X, Elon Musk has said he hopes to turn the platform into an all-purpose app. And having MrBeast on board is a huge win for Musk, considering his massive reach.

Responding to MrBeast's post, Musk welcomed the video to X with a quote post that read, “First MrBeast video posted directly on X!”

,p>Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, also shared the video with her own post.

While his reported revenue from his debut X video looks like a big number, it’s not a lot for MrBeast.

While Donaldson is one of the highest-earning creators, his millions of dollars in revenue is almost equal to his millions of dollars he have to spend on his videos.

"The production cost of my videos runs into millions, and even with a billion views on X, it wouldn’t come close to covering a fraction of it. Nonetheless, I’m game to explore possibilities once monetization hits its stride!" Donaldson responded to Musk.
